The role

Help us build a professional purchasing process that is ready for the future. At KSE, we develop and build machinery and automation solutions for customers around the world. To do this, we work with a broad network of suppliers of technical components, manufactured parts and systems.

As a Technical Buyer, you connect our engineering team with the supplier market. You understand the technical requirements, find suitable suppliers and agree on price, quality, delivery times and terms. Your work goes beyond purchasing for current projects: you will also help us develop supplier relationships and improve the way we organise purchasing.

What you will do at KSE

You will work closely with engineers, project managers and other colleagues involved in customer projects. Together, you will make sure the right parts and systems are available when needed.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Requesting and comparing quotations for technical components, manufactured parts and systems.
  • Assessing suppliers on price, quality, delivery time and technical capabilities.
  • Negotiating prices, terms and delivery agreements.
  • Selecting and developing new and existing suppliers.
  • Monitoring key deliveries and identifying risks in good time.
  • Finding alternatives that could improve cost, quality or security of supply.
  • Making agreements for regularly purchased parts and with recurring suppliers.
  • Identifying opportunities for standardisation, consolidation and cost savings.
  • Helping to develop our supplier network and purchasing process.

You will look beyond individual projects. You will build long-term supplier relationships and make sure supplier knowledge, information and agreements are accessible within KSE. We are also exploring how data, automation and AI can make purchasing more effective—for example, by comparing quotations, analysing price trends, finding alternative suppliers and identifying delivery risks earlier. You will help determine where these applications can add value in practice.

Who you are

You are curious about engineering and have a commercial mindset. You do not need to be an engineer, but you do want to understand what you are buying and why a particular technical solution is needed.
You can move comfortably between a conversation with an engineer and a negotiation with a supplier. You consider not only the lowest price, but also quality, reliability, flexibility and collaboration.
You have completed an MBO or HBO qualification in engineering, business administration, supply chain, purchasing or a related field. Your technical understanding, commercial awareness, curiosity and willingness to learn matter more than your specific qual
Experience in technical purchasing, project procurement or a similar role is an advantage. A background in production planning, engineering, project coordination or a technical-commercial role may also be relevant.
You have enough technical understanding to read specifications, drawings, bills of materials and quotations, and to discuss them with colleagues and suppliers.
You work independently, take a practical approach and accept responsibility. When you see a way to improve something, you take action.
You communicate easily with different people. You work well with colleagues and are willing to challenge a supplier when needed.
You have a good command of Dutch and English.
Experience with ERP systems, international suppliers or supplier development, or an additional purchasing qualification such as NEVI, is welcome but not required.

What we offer

You can expect a professional, supportive and stimulating working environment where your abilities matter:

A role in a company small enough for direct communication and personal contact, yet large enough to play a significant part in its market. You will have the opportunity to make a difference and develop in different directions.
The opportunity to apply data, automation and AI in practical ways within your field.
A dynamic working environment with attention to your personal development.
A salary appropriate to the role.
27 days of annual leave and 13 ADV days (additional days off under the Dutch working-hours reduction scheme).
Staff activities, including pub quizzes and an annual Christmas event.
