Help build the next generation of service engineering

KSE has ambitious plans for AI and has already taken important steps in this area. We want to do more than automate our customers’ production processes — we also want to make the way we carry out our own engineering and service work smarter, faster and more reliable. That’s why we’re looking for a Junior Software Engineer who will first learn how our software, customer projects and service processes work in practice. With that knowledge, you’ll then help us use software and AI to continuously improve and innovate the way we work. So, you won’t just be automating our customers’ production processes — you’ll also help automate and improve the way we do our own work.

The role

As part of our service team, you’ll work on smaller software projects for existing customers. Together with experienced colleagues, you’ll develop new functionality, modify production processes and improve existing automation solutions.

With guidance from experienced colleagues, you’ll learn how to:

  • translate customer requirements into functional and technical solutions;
  • develop, configure and program process automation;
  • test, commission and hand over software solutions;
  • analyse and resolve software-related questions and issues;
  • identify opportunities to standardise and automate engineering and service work.

At the same time, you’ll work on applications such as generating code and configurations, automating checks and tests, and processing technical information and documentation more efficiently. We’re also exploring how AI can help us analyse faults more quickly and identify potential causes and solutions.

You’ll start with well-defined improvements and gradually grow towards developing solutions that are applied more broadly and become an integral part of our service team and customer projects.

After your onboarding period, you’ll also take part in our 24/7 on-call service, approximately one week every 16 weeks, with an attractive additional allowance.

You assess whether the software solutions developed by our project teams are truly ‘’serviceable’’ and ensure that all information in project handovers is complete. In addition, you offer phone support to customers or colleagues working on-site and provide on-site service yourself when required. You will also participate in the on-call rotation and support system commissioning activities – both on location and remotely.

This is you

You’ve recently graduated or have limited work experience. You enjoy programming, learn quickly and are eager to understand how complex technical processes work.

You enjoy working with and for customers: you listen to their questions, think along with them and look for solutions that genuinely help them move forward. You’re also curious about how software and AI can help you continuously automate and improve your own work.

You also have:

A completed vocational or Bachelor's Degree in Software Development, IT, AI or a technical field. The specific field of study is less importan than your programming skills, logical thinking, curiosity and ability to learn.
Affinity for programming and industrial automation.
Interest in AI and automating software and engineering work.
An analytical and practial approach to your work.
A customer-focused attidude and strong communication skills.
A good command of Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
A willingness to occasionally work at customer sites in the Netherlands and abroad.
Experience with technologies such as C#, Python, SQL, PLCs, SCADA, HMI, Git, APIs, databases or generative AI is a plus, but not required.
